My Little "Pet"

I caught it on monday. It ate my whole pack of melon seeds.

New Idea

New idea came out of chaos. After some very rough sketching, I gave up my original idea which is to create geometric icon for each message. Instead, I will use more realistic picture as the icon. The icon is not directly representing the message, but relevant to it. That is more interesting, and has more fun.

Position

The bubble should be put in a position that, first of all, people can see and read it. When the person closely interacts with the bubble, I also want it to be as if the bubble comes out of the person's head, so the bubble should not be rising too high. Slightly above an average person's height will be perfect. Besides with the people, the bubble also has a relationship with its corresponding object. For example, if the message is "lock the door", the corresponding object is the door. The height of the bubble is relatively fixed. The bubble should be just above or next to its corresponding object so that it is easy for the audience to make connection (association). There are places where the bubble should not be put to: 1. other objects will cut the sight of the bubble; 2. more than one nearby object can be corresponding to the message; movement of the object (like a window open and close) will interfere its position.

I Am Stuck

Not too much fresh idea for this week. In other words, I am stuck. Please forgive me for being stuck.

After Seeing Blogs from the Other Class

After seeing blogs from the other class, I think it is time to "beautify" my project. I think I am half step behind. Just half, not too big.

Nothing to Post for This Week

Hmm, i was preparing my presentation instead.

Hit the Cupboard

After I got a glass of water, I turned and my head hit the cupboard, heavily. Ouch! What an inspiration!

Absent

Sorry my dear classmates and instructor. I will be absent today because I feel really sick... I seriously need some rest.

I have posted up all I have for this week. Please take a look. Thanks.

Scenario

Colour

White colour is always not a wrong choice, but using some other colours might make it more interesting. I believe light blue will be the most appropriate because Mr. Forgetfulness is in blue.

The text is in light colour too so that the viewers have to spend some effort in order to read. It is just like, spending effort to recall a thing.

Type

For typeface, I would like to use a round one which fits the roundness of the bubble or balloon.

Thanks for Cindy's idea about using dash line to express the ambiguity of forgetfulness.

I personally prefer all lower case because it looks more friendly and lively.

The Messages on the Bubbles

The messages (things that people usually, commonly, and likely forget) on the bubbles can be categorized into 4 big locations (for my target audience, 16 - 25 age group):

1. School, what a lovely place!

2. Home, as long as you are not homeless.

3. Office, as entry level workers.

4. Public space, places that we share.

Each location has its corresponding messages.

School:
1. Pay tuition fees (Financial Service)
2. Review for midterm (lecture room)
3. Bring my calculator (math classroom, high school)
4. Take my USB back (computer room)
5. Bring my assignment (classroom)
6. My ECUAD email password (ECUAD)
7. A wonderful idea (ECUAD)

Home:
1. Bring my key (near the door, outside)
2. Lock the door (near the door, inside)
3. Feed my dog (dog dish)
4. Expired milk (fridge)
5. Water my flowers (garden)
6. Turn off light (switch)

Office:
1. Reply to a client (phone)
2. Attend a meeting (somewhere in office)
3. Say hi to the boss (somewhere in office)

Public space
1. Get off next stop (inside a bus)
2. Bring my bus pass (bus stop)
3. Wash hands (washroom, restaurant kitchen)

For Ginger's Project

Ginger you might have seen this image. I really like the idea of using 2D to express 3D. In my opinion, it will be more interesting that the 2D objects suddenly transform into some 3D elements. In this image, the person's head and smoke are drawings (2D), but his cigarette and his mouth are 3D. That is where the wonderfulness is, perhaps. Hope my understanding of what you are doing is correct... (I am the kind of stupid person who will mistakenly email my resume to those who are looking for jobs, instead of hiring...)

For Cindy's Project

Here is an idea for Cindy's project. Hope she can read at least some Chinese. The image is a menu. It lists several super luxurious plates in big text, but at the end, in small text, it says "All of above, we do not have." Since the target audience is 18 to 20 something, i guess they are the most "demanding" age group. A list of things that they want will definitely attract their attention first (like, borrow most update video games, etc.) , but then, all these require their feedback in order to be realized. Understand what I am saying?

Slow Down

For this week, I am slowing down again. Not much sleep since last Sunday. X________X OMG... Energy drink does not work anymore...

I am reading and commenting everyone's blog. Everyone's project is so interesting that I want to participate in (but sometimes it is hard to write comment) and put my own project away for a while... My head is stuffed with too many balloons. Haha.

Please forgive me for not having much to show for this week... I forgot to rest...

Some Sketches

Blurry Text

It would be interesting that the text on the bubble is blurry because a forgotten thought should be ambiguous.
