I use balloons as a metaphor for ideas, thoughts, and memories.
I believe our memories are held outside instead of inside so that it is easier for them to come and go.
In this balloon metaphor theory, occasionally one or two balloons will escape.
Where do those escaped balloons go to? They stay in the places where people forget.
Each balloon has an icon to represent the forgotten idea. For example, in washroom ceilings, we probably can find balloons with "washing-hands" icon.
Some icons might be obvious to articulate, but some can be ambiguous so that the audience have some imaginary space.
Those balloons form a signage system which indicates where (under what situations) and what people forget. With this signage system, people will realize forgetfulness is always around us.
The balloons themselves are not the complete design, but the combination of the balloons and their corresponding evironments. The design highly relies on context.
I do not want the icons to be too ordinary. People's response should be "Oh? Ah! Haha!"
I have a strong feeling that these balloons can be categorized based on a colour code, but I have not figured out how.
Challenges:
1. So far, it is definitely not interesting at all. How can I make it attractive?
2. How can I make the audience understand the balloons are about forgetfulness?
3. How can I print the icons on the balloons?
